History
Kongasis Community established Kongasis Christian Education Center in the year 2001. , The idea was mooted by Prof. Adam K. arap Chepkwony who was inspired to assist Sunday school children who held their classes in the open since the Church was far. His intention was to construct a structure the size of a garage to protect these children from cold and rain. It never occurred to him then that this decision would lead to the establishment of an institution upon the request of the community. This marked the humble beginning of Kongasis Christian Education Center (KACECE), which is registered as a community based organization (CBO) by the ministry of Social services in Kenya.
In a few years the Sunday school project grew into a Nursery School and gradually a Full Primary School by 2006. From its inception, KACECE intention was to provide quality and affordable education for pupils in the rural setting. To subsidize the fees, KACECE embarked on several projects and mobilized the community through awareness meeting in an effort to create support system to enable the youth attain the basic education and consequently alleviate poverty in the community.

Kongasis Primary School has been able to maintain an average of 100 pupils each year. In spite of this, KACECE is concerned with the high rate of drop out due to financial difficulties. 60% of the dropouts are, unfortunately girls, the majority of whom never go beyond primary level. The difficulty of raising fees is brought about by abject poverty. The majority of families in this community live on less than a dollar per month.
KPS offers such pupils a practical education that trains them to be strong, morally upright and self-motivating individuals to face the world after school. This is done in the context of African cultural moral values and practices that can enable them to utilize the natural and cultural resources to live decent and promising lives.
